Capacity building in visual health
Following the exploratory mandate in the new visual health clinic of Huruma hospital in Rombo district, the next mandate comes in phase two (2) to support the partner within its visual clinic by collaborating with professional staff in terms of support and training, as well as strengthening effective visual health services for beneficiaries.

Results of the mandate
– Installation of equipment donated to equip the clinic
– Theoretical and practical training on the use and maintenance of the equipment was provided
– Collaboration with professionals from the referral hospital (Kibosho Hospital) for cataract referrals and patient surgeries
– Vision screening campaign

Objectives of the mandate
– Monitoring cases of cataracts and glaucoma diagnosed during eye screening campaigns
– Strengthening the skills of professionals (theoretical and practical training)
– Return to the themes of effective referral, patient approach during consultations and treatment, reminder of the use, sterilisation and maintenance of equipment.
– Strengthening clinical monitoring
– Continuation of visual screening campaigns and promotion of the service in secondary schools

Before departure, TSF organizes pre-departure meetings and training at its offices (in person or virtually) in order to prepare the volunteers, as well as a meeting upon return, for a return assessment. These meetings are mandatory for the smooth running of the mandate.
