Main objective

To contribute to the sustainable development of rural communities through a centre dedicated to training, research and the promotion of innovative agroecological, endogenous and entrepreneurial practices.

Description

Rooted in a vision of endogenous and sustainable development, the centre equips individuals and local communities with the attitudes and skills required for sound agroecological and entrepreneurial practices in the fields of agriculture, livestock farming, arboriculture and processing.

The project will have significant benefits:

In the socio-economic sphere:
– Creation of direct and indirect jobs,
– Integration of trained rural youth and women, as well as girls who have dropped out of school,
– Reduction of rural exodus and boosting of the entrepreneurial spirit within the community through the creation of new employment opportunities,
– Improvement in food security
– Increase in household incomes.
– Raising awareness among young people of Mali’s cultural and societal values.

In the environmental sphere:
– Agroecological practices, recycling of fish farm effluent and cattle manure, etc.,
– Dissemination of improved plant species and seeds,
– Creation of an ecosystem that can be replicated in other Sahelian areas.

In the institutional sphere:
– Strengthening the sustainability and visibility of Sahel21-TSF,
– Strengthening partnerships with local authorities and specialist technical services,
– Strengthening cooperation links between Sahel21-TSF and research institutions in Mali and Canada.
