ESSOR Program – Education, Health, Support for Rural Women
To bring about a sustainable improvement in the living conditions of vulnerable communities in the municipality of Sinthiou Bamambé, particularly women and children, by focusing primarily on three key and complementary areas: pre-school education, community health, and the economic empowerment of women.
Rooted in local and socio-cultural realities, the programme addresses urgent needs identified through a participatory assessment: dilapidated educational and health infrastructure, poor coverage of basic social services, disparities between neighbourhoods, underutilisation of women’s organisational potential, and persistent economic insecurity.
The programme adopts an inclusive approach based on three complementary areas of intervention:
The first aims to improve access to quality pre-school education through the refurbishment of the nursery, the provision of teaching materials and the training of staff.
The second strengthens community health, particularly maternal and child health, through the refurbishment and equipping of the maternity ward, and mobile awareness-raising and health monitoring initiatives in the neighbourhoods.
Finally, the third lever supports women’s economic empowerment by backing the processing platform (conversion to solar power, fish farming, gardening), strengthening the technical capacities of the groups, and establishing a sustainable structure for the local federation.
