Humanitarian aid in Mali

The emergency response approach is based on maintaining a close presence within communities in order to identify risks and respond swiftly. Through partnerships with various United Nations agencies and private donors, TSF provides transparent assistance, including food distribution, shelter aid and support for social infrastructure. Thanks to its expertise in monitoring and evaluation, TSF ensures rigorous monitoring of interventions, adapts its actions to changing needs and helps to strengthen sustainable responses in crisis contexts.

Results-based management and humanitarian accountability

TSF places monitoring and evaluation at the heart of its humanitarian work to ensure transparency, responsiveness and continuous improvement, and to enable its humanitarian partners to track the progress of interventions in real time. This approach includes monitoring the management of schools and their canteens, the supply of health centres for the treatment of malnutrition, changes in food prices, as well as the identification of vulnerable households and the rigorous monitoring of food distributions at all relevant sites.

A comprehensive response to forced displacement

TSF has rolled out a comprehensive humanitarian response to support displaced people, refugees and returnees in northern Mali. The core of the initiative combined shelter reconstruction, rehabilitation of social infrastructure, improved access to water and support for economic recovery. Working with representative shelter committees, TSF encouraged community participation and local cohesion, enabling families affected by the crisis to rebuild their daily lives and strengthen their resilience.

Operational capacity and local presence in contexts of insecurity

In northern Mali, where insecurity and mass displacement disrupt daily life, humanitarian needs remain immense. TSF continues to operate there thanks to the strength of its local teams, who are deeply rooted in the communities. Their understanding of local dynamics, risks and social mechanisms enables them to reach displaced families with rapid and tailored responses. This on-the-ground expertise, essential for navigating a fragile and often unpredictable environment, is central to TSF’s ability to maintain reliable and humane emergency aid.
