Description

Grain d’espoir-Jigiya aims to improve socio-economic well-being through an integrated approach to community development. The program is based on the establishment of village cooperatives capable of strengthening communities’ economic self-reliance, facilitating access to financial services and supporting job creation for women and young people.

It involves the development of communal fields, market gardens and grain storage facilities to sustainably improve household food and nutritional security. Awareness-raising and nutritional support activities will also be carried out within the communities. Furthermore, it promotes women’s rights, their access to healthcare, resources and decision-making bodies, whilst supporting rural entrepreneurship through training, technical support and tailored access to credit.

Grain d’espoir-Jigiya also contributes to improving access to quality education through adult literacy programmes, the strengthening of school infrastructure, and support for schools and school management committees in the Kolokani district.
