In the Republic of Congo, the number of women who give birth in precarious situations is high, the lack of prenatal and postnatal care is glaring and many newborns do not obtain the care and follow-up required. The Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Center affiliated with the Integrated Care Center (CSI) in Bétou aims to make up for this lack of care, mainly among refugees and displaced populations.

Clinical follow-up component
– Facilitation of diagnosis for high-risk pregnancies for adequate prenatal follow-up;
– Ability to perform comprehensive ultrasound examinations using high-performance equipment;
– Assistance in childbirth by quality health personnel;
– Improvement of emergency obstetric and neonatal care interventions in the areas landlocked (mobile clinical teams);
– Supply of drugs and antiretroviral inputs against HIV to all pregnant women and all children under five who need it;
– Improved knowledge of the community on the health of women and children.

Capacity building component
– Support the strengthening of skills among maternal and gynecological health professionals by sending Canadian volunteers;
– Ensure the training of midwives in SONUC (Complete Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care) and SONUB (Basic Obstetric and Neonatal Care) to improve emergency care obstetrics;
– Accompany and do the clinical follow-up with the midwives and nurses having patients in follow-up pre and post natal.
