Expanding access to visual care

Providing immediate help to people who are suffering is, of course, at the heart of Optométristes Sans Frontières’s interventions. But beyond these short-term missions, the objective is also to ensure field partners become autonomous, so they can permanently provide visual care themselves at a low cost.

To achieve this, Terre Sans Frontières and Optométristes Sans Frontières set up permanent optometry clinics wherever possible, especially in regions with little or no access to this kind of health service.

These projects require equipment, materials and supplies, which are shipped by container. Optométristes Sans Frontières then sets up the clinic and trains resources.
