The first humanitarian trip organized by Terre Sans Frontières through its Volontaires Sans Frontières programme (formely Demain en Main), was a huge success. A group of 12 people made
up of five mothers and seven teenagers went to Tanzania, from June 25 to July 13, to live an unforgettable international solidarity experience.

Ms. Manon Aubin, a member of the board of Terre Sans Frontières, who had taken part in Kilimanjaro Sans Frontières in January 2013, formed the group. “Upon her return, she showed her pictures to a friend and her daughter who immediately wanted to take part in a similar adventure with Volontaires Sans Frontières”, explains Sophie Daris, Project Officer for Volontaires Sans Frontières. It took six months for this joyful group to get prepared and collect funds to support the two projects, which they were involved in during their stay. The first project aimed to sand, polish and assemble chairs and desks for classrooms of the St. Francis of Assisi School-Orphanage, near Moshi, and the second project involved finishing work for a multi-purpose room at the Augustina Perfect School in Arusha. The group also got acquainted with the projects led by other Terre Sans Frontières partners such as the Women Education and Economic Center (WEECE), a group of women who support the economic activities if its members, the Masaï village in Palestina and the secondary school in Duluti. The trip ended with several nature trips including a safari. “Overall, the people felt they were on a field mission. They were very touched by their meetings with people, especially a great open-mindedness and sense of sharing that characterized these meetings”, tells Sophie Daris, while insisting on the teenagers’ wonderful integration, which was made by the proximity with the various partners. Once on site, the group quickly realized that there were many needs, which incited them to pursue their fundraising in order to provide mattresses and sandals to the children of St. Francis of Assisi.
